Campaign: Pro-Housing Lakewood Special Election Apr 7th
Pay: $27/hour
We’re hiring paid door-to-door canvassers to support a progressive, pro-housing election campaign focused on building more affordable homes, and creating inclusive, livable communities. This is a way to get involved, take action, and get paid while engaging in community advocacy.
What You’ll Do
Go door-to-door in assigned neighborhoods throughout Lakewood to speak directly with voters and distribute campaign materials.
Have respectful, detailed, persuasive conversations about housing, growth, and community values
Share accurate information about the campaign and upcoming election and combat misinformation being spread by the opposition.
Help the campaign get out the vote!
What We’re Looking For
Comfortable speaking with strangers and engaging in conversations at the door
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and scripts
Ability and willingness to walk several miles per shift and canvass outdoors in all weather (it’s spring in Colorado! Snow, sun, and rain are all possible), and to have and wear weather-appropriate attire
Must have a smartphone with unlimited data plan for navigation and recording progress and data throughout the shift
Interest in progressive politics, housing issues, or community organizing, and a willingness to learn about the zoning issue in detail.
Prior canvassing or campaign experience is a plus, but not required, training provided
Schedule & Commitment
Shifts are available seven days per week at specified blocks of time, afternoon to early evening during the week and throughout the day on weekends.
Canvassers must work a minimum of 15 hours a week.
Travel to and from shift locations throughout Lakewood is the responsibility of the paid canvasser and not reimbursed or included in working time.
The period of work runs up to and including April 7th. Some limited work beyond that time may be available by individual agreement only.
Compensation
$27 per hour, paid every other week, at latest within one week of completing first two calendar weeks of work
Time spent training and learning the issues is paid
