Make Lakewood Livable is a local group of citizens defending Lakewood’s recently passed pro-affordability, pro-environment, and pro-people zoning code.

Though Lakewood has made significant progress, we still have a lot of work to do to provide affordable housing for everyone.

Housing is the top issue for Coloradans, from young people trying to find a starter home to build their lives to seniors looking for downsizing options. The new zoning code creates a more livable Lakewood for everyone by creating pathways to housing people can actually afford and meets their needs.

Sustainability is a core value across our communities and in Lakewood’s new zoning laws. The new rules advance a range of climate, water, and sustainability goals through reducing sprawl, improving building efficiency, and establishing better park protections.

People first city planning is essential to building a healthy community. Lakewood deserves more walkability, small business options, flexibility for property owners, and a balanced approach to the needs of all residents. These goals are at the core of the zoning updates we want to defend.
